Non Scripted Mortar Fire???

Hey all, haven't been around here for a looooooooong time, seems I can't put that damn game down....

I just dowloaded the I:44 demo and I'm trying to get the AI mortars to hammer a village. I tried the doTarget and doFire thing, and nothing happens.

I wanna hear and see the actual mortars firing, but I wanna keep them far away from their target.

I'm assuming this is just something that HAS to be done with scripting, but if anyone knows a good workaround with Game Logic or Empty H's, pleeeeeze help me.

And I did poke around the forums a little already, and so far it sounds like it can't be done. Quarter to prove me wrong?

Dunno, but I can't help feeling that if you make the loons select their mortars first, and then reveal[/b] the targets before the doTarget-doFire thing, then it's unlikely to do any harm.

Hs and gamelogics are unlikely to help much, but an M2 buried just beneath the ground with setpos might do the trick.

Alternatively, just give them fire[/b] commands.   If you have them in the right place and facing the right direction it might just give the right effect.

I think I may have made myself sound a little to OFP literate in my first post.  Feel like giving me a hint as to the syntax of the reveal thing?

Or did ya mean just setposing someone into the ground near the target, having them in the same group as the mortar, and reveal the targets for the arty?

lol it's well known that I can only hint at syntax, I certainly can't tell you what it is.   Look it up in the command reference in the Ed Depot, its not difficult to use.   Similarly the fire command.

The setpost thing is slightly different.   If you want the mortar loons to fire at the "wrong" place you need to give them a target for the doTarget and doFire commands.   An M2 setposed just below the ground might do the trick for that.
