Long cutscenes before missions

I just got this game not too long ago and I was wondering how are you supposed to make those long cutscenes before your mission start? ???

Anyway, you could use the editor driven ones, but trust me, they suck. Read SnYpirs tute about camera scripting ;)

In the editor click on Advanced and you'll get more options.
Then click on intro (its in the small scoll down bar tat includes Mission and outro too)

When you've done this set up some scenery and units that you want to be filmed.

Now find sypers tutorial on camera scripting (check the 'Editors Depot') and follow his instructions.

I don't know whether you know much about scripting and camera scripting. But basially a script is just someting you make in notepad containing game commands. OFP reads these commands in-game while your playing and caries them out.

Snypers Turial will show you all you need to create an Intro. Like how to create a camera, how to make it look at a person, where to place the camera etc...

Once you've read snYpir's tute, read messiah's tute on camera.sqs, it will make your life much easier.  ;)

Cutscenes before the mission come in two flavours.    The first is the Intro as described by Ace.    (The drop down box he mentions is about halfway down the right had side of the mission editor map screen.)     The Intro plays before you see the Briefing.   Alternatively/additionally, you can have an ordinary cutscene at the start of the mission.    

Similarly, the Outro plays after the debriefing screen.

Whether you are making an Intro, Outro, or cutscene the process is essentially the same - you set up a scene with units, vehicles and objects, then you set up the camera view either in a trigger (not very good) or a little script (good).     The tutorials (there's a whole sub-category on this) will help you to create your first cutscene, if you get stuck search the FAQ and the forum.   If that doens't work post a question on the Cameras and Cutscenes board.

Remember ... short cutscenes can be better.  Long ones are nice 1st time 'round - but can become very tedious on difficult missions that require many attempts.

Difference between intros and cutscenes, it doesn't matter if an intro is long if it's in the "intro" mode, as you can click past it. But cutscenes in the "mission" mode should be kept short, yes.
