Disabling helicopters
« on: 28 Mar 2003, 01:19:38 »
Is there a way to get the Russians to target a blackhawk and disable it so the crew remains intact, and the helicopter has to make a hard landing? AA missiles will destroy the helicopter and the crew inside. Will soldiers target air units with small arms fire, or is there a way to make the helicopter tougher so the missiles will do the job?
The reason is I am creating a mission that begins by the blackhawk getting knocked down, and the crew and cargo holing out until SAR extracts them.

Hi Again

Ok you can make it look like the BlackHawk is going down with people in it...

Make the BlackHawk have no pilot and have it flying and put this in the INI Field after naming it something (anything):
c1 flyInHeight 100
c1 = name of chopper
100 = Height you want it to be up in chopper

Have it fall to the ground (blow up) if you are making it have a camera watching it fall...
Have another chopper somewhere out of scene and name it something (c2) with people in it (pilots).  One other thing is to have the damaged down 3/4 left or from the left 1/4 right.  Also make the chopper locked so the pilots willn't get out.

|| where you should put, around there.

When the camera is not on the died chopper have a trigger to make the two choppers switch:
Put this in the On Activation Field:
c1 setPos c2; c2 setPos c1

As you get to the chopper (extracts the pilots) have a trigger go off to unlock the chopper...

Bye

When you use one of the 2 tail rotor failure scripts the heli stays intact
