Addon Error message

Hi
Sometimes in multiplayer maps ive made which use addons, once theyre done and we try to play them a error message comes up that says something like

cannot load mission/missing addons/addon.bin, or something like that

Could you please tell me why this happens, because it means the mission wont work on a linux server, when normally this little error can be ignored

Does the server have the addon installed?

I dont think it has to because Nam missions run without having to upload the Nam pack onto the server  :-\

Since 1.90 (maybe earlier) there has been a problem with the game not automatically adding addons to the listing in mission.sqm.  You may have to open mission.sqm manually and add the suspect addon to the list.

Normally the editor keeps track of addons used throughout a preview and puts them under addonsAuto, but it seems to lose them now.

And last I checked, the server has to have all the addons or the mission won't load.

So why do Nam mission work without the Nam pack?

Edit: I added the addon to the auto addons list and i still get the error

I see a lot of that on our server.
My guess is, itÂ's that thingy that compares files on the clients in order to uncover cheaters. HavenÂ't looked, but I seem to recall that some file(s) are chosen at random and compared on all clients. So the error could occur when a client does not have an addon that is on the server, even though itÂ's NOT needed for the current mission or the client has that addon in a different folder. (OFP/addons or Res/addons)

No we've tried that, only having the people with the right addons on the server

Are you sure the server has the addon?  It really does have to have it you know.  A Nam mission may not even use the Nam pack, they are two seperate addons.

Make sure your server has the addon installed, then we can at least rule that out.

After a load of testing I  think we can say its either the addon or my computer
Either way it doesnt work
And the Nam missions do use the pack

I just need to find a way to get rid of the errors that pop up ie

cannot load mission/ missing addons/ addon.pbo

the addon displayed in the error is in the list
im starting to feel like it really is the addon because I tried a test mission with other addons and it worked fine without having to upload the addons to the server

If its sebnam 2 that you are having problems with

1) Try reinstalling the addon to the server
In addition make sure both the server and the clients have done the following

a) Unzipped and installed the coc minepack that is included as a zipped file in the sebnam pack

b) sebnam_1a which is a seperate pbo, not included in the pre loaded folders, has also been copied to the res/addons folder


Its probably a corrupted addon file or you havent done a, or b



Posting the exact error message may help

It's not the Nam pack  :-\
It's the Royal Marines teaser
the error message is

cannot load mission, missing addons: bib_sa80

I think it's a problem with the addon, I have spoken to the UK Forces team and they said theyll look into it

Anyone else encounter this problem?
