Shoot Buildings (tried it all)

I've tried every method I could find on this and other sites. I want an AI tank to target and destroy a building(s). I've tried the following and none have worked:

-placing a gamelogic on bldg and targeting that
-Making a building "west" so east will shoot it
-Using 'destroy' waypoints
-using 'dotarget' and 'dofire' on object id
-placing a new building and trying all the above
-placing an enemy unit inside bldg with 'knows about'. Wont shoot unless the unit is visible in a window

I've searched this and other forums MANY times and none of the ideas worked (may have forgotten to list one or so above). The way I have it now, I park a car etc in front of a bldg and change it to "west" when I want the tank (east) to fire. It shoots the car (hopefully with the turret), and the building (already set to .9 dammage) is destroyed as well. But that's kinda lame.

I'm not a 'new guy' around here :) though I think this is only my first post on this board as I have always been able to search for my answers. Been editing over the past year or so too. So I thank you all for helping 'inadvertently'. I'm 7 missions into my campaign :)

So has anyone actually got this to work? This is my main question, however...if I may ask another...

I'd also like to be able to place a lamppost and 'light' it without the light being in the middle of the pole, instead of up at the top where the light should be. ALSO the light doesn't seem to actually illuminate anything around it.

As I said, I've tried EVERYTHING (except apparently the correct method) for both problems, so I'm finally asking.

I appreciate any help with this. Thanks for all your help, past and future!
I'm using Resistance 1.9 btw

TankName  fire  ["GUN120", "shell120", "Shell120"]  8) ;)

Then ya can always just let him "doTarget" something, like a G-logic,
and then use the spell I just put up there



PS. off course ya need to know the right weaponName, so go grab an ammolist somewhere  ::) ;D

Thanks! OK now this is kind of working. Good enuff for what I need. I still can not seem to get my tank to target or watch or interact at all with a game logic. However, I CAN make the tank WATCH a building, ala:

this dowatch object 14283

Now using your above mentioned 'spell'  ;)  I can make the tank fire:

tank1 fire ["GUN120", "shell120", "Shell120"]

I can't DoTarget the building though, BUT since the buildings are big and my town is flat, it still hits and destroys the building using DoWatch. Hey it works so what the heck.

I'm just using this at the end of a mission...if you don't destroy all tanks, then the remaining armor rolls into town and starts destroying it...you lose. I don't know how I missed the FIRE command all this time. I have every command reference in existence! Was right under my nose all along. Incidentally, I downloaded Walker's Light Addon so hopefully my lighting problems are solved as well :)

I mean, why rely on yer own 2 eyes when you can have 3000 eyes & minds working!  ;D
