There was a seagull script in the old forum. It generated seagulls to fly in the air.. Really good stuff does anyone still have it?

I don't have it, but didn't it just use somethin like

_gull = "seagull" camCreate _position

in a script and then move them randomly in a loop?

Umm ... No.

The scripts were written by Petroizki and are a work of abosolote genius. They are still my favorite bit of scripting, even though he never did get them completly finished (they are the only bit of scripting I use that I haven't written myself).

Heres the first script:

Bremmer, any chance you could get hold of the author and get permission for us to host these scripts here?

Sorry macguba - I don't know Petroizkis address, and I haven't seen him on the new forums,or for quite a while before the old forums closed. I'm also not sure how he would feel about these scripts being hosted as he was always quite insistant that these were only betas, and there was better to come (in fact I'm not even sure if the versions I've posted were the final version he posted).

I guess you could host them without permission, then if the author appears and objects you can take them down. Alternatively myself or another scripter could have a bash at updating the scripts, with due credit given of course. Looking through the scripts I can see there are lots of features that Petroizki had planned, but hadn't implemented.

Either way these really do deserve a place in the editors depo - they add so much character to missions.

 :)

[edit]Just checked the members list and found Petroizki is registered. Unfortunately his e-mail is hidden, and he hasn't posted in the new forums.[/edit]

LOL, it takes ball... BRAINS to bring out a statement like this, Goldie  :o ;D
But I'm a believer - in this case I am  ;)

May I (in all discretion) command ya to 'polish' these things, I think these
scrolls are as valuable as the "Dead Sea scrolls"  8) :-* It would be pretty cool to
grab a few updated and polished versions.

why don't you go ahead and create a seagull...scroll ( :P ;D )  :D hm?!

Thanks for looking, Bremmer.    I've sent him an IM, hopefully he'll log in and see it.    I agree with Tomb, if we can't get hold of him why don't you go ahead and polish them, with due credit of course.    Submit them via the Ed Depot as usual.   We'll host them with a note saying if he is not happy about it we'll take them down.

Meantime, if anybody sees him on another website, please bring this thread to his attention.

Thanks all.

Hello..

I'm amazed that someone still uses that script. I never really got any version of the script finished, in some point i was making new model/textures for the birds, but those didn't work and i got bored. :P
And yes, you can host the script, i have no website, and this forum was the only place i submitted the scripts.

Right now i will start making new version of the script, probably the first non-beta ;D

With thanks to Petroizki for the use of his seagulls script, I have managed to place the script inside a fishing boat addon and initialise the seagull script from within the addon so as soon as the game starts the seagulls automatically appear. The Seagulls follow the boat where it goes, and disappear when the boat sinks.
Addon still requires some finishing and will be released later.

I remember that script. I made my own little basic seagull script for one of my missions, based on his. His had tons of features and made the seagulls act like....seagulls! Twas very neat, except the seagulls caused alot of lag, so I scrapped them.
