Keeping units on station & facing direction

As you can tell I'm new to this stuff and apologize for the likely foolish nature of my question. I'm unable to keep certain units, for instance mounted M2 mg's in  particular positions and facing different directions. I've tried using the  player setDir command without success. Any help is appreciated.

Your question is not foolish. SetDir is a quite useless command. The units never keep their directions. If you want to make the units look to a special direction, use toadlife's face direction script, available at the ed depot.
