No Users Folder
« on: 15 Aug 2008, 13:27:44 »
I just installed this game on Vista and the game runs fine.

I can also use Chris' OFP script editor and place scripts into the Users folder. (Or so it says)

However when I go into the
C:/Program Files/Codemasters/Operation Flashpoint/
folder there is no visible "USERS" folder.  Somehow the script editor can see it but I can not access it through the same means as I did before. Even after a re-install no Users folers appear in the regular location.

Anyone have any trouble accessing your "USERS" folder on Vista?  If I don't have access to this folder I am screwed.

  Thanks.

Don't you have to start a mission or start a mission in the editor before the users folder appears.
That's how I remember it after my last reinstall anyway.

Can't help you if it's a Vista problem I stuck with XP ;)

The problem is UAC which will not let software write files anywhere except in your documents and settings folder. Simply right click on your OFP shortcut and click "run as admin" and you will be set. You can also set the shortcut properties such that it always runs as admin.  Some people disable UAC for this reason.

The above reply works, thanks Mr. Peanut.

The office moved in all new PC's with Vista so a number of us weren't happy to see we wouldn't be emailing missions back and forth. Thankfully the UAC thing can be altered permanently once I figure it out.
