Canada's Army.

Since it seems that the Operation Northstar mod is dead  :'( I'd like to request a set of modern Canadian Infantry.

All the tools are there already, you'd just have to re-texture HYK's Modern Infantry and equip them with C7A1s from the Lowlands Warrior mod (all done with permision of course). The only problem I can see is the C6 and the C9 machine guns but I'm sure it would be easy to re-texture and re-name an exsisting M240 and M249, since the outward looks are very simmilar.

If anyone chooses to do this, please keep in mind Canada has a new set of uniforms that include desert and winter Camo... Woodland pic is included, I'll see if I can find some Winter and Desert pics.

P.S. Please, for the love of god, don't just post the Operation Northstar URL without reading my post. I already tried to contact them a month ago and got no response whatsoever.

well, there is a tread on the BIS forums under Addons & Mods: Discussion called "Any Word From Northstar". fairly recent thread, should be in the first couple pages. anyway, since you obviously already know the URL to ONS, why not just use their stuff? it may not be up to snuff with the current addons available, but it's good enough. Honestly, most mission players probably won't care about the addons not being perfect, and your fellow editors definately won't.

Well I would normally use the old units, but the Operation Northstar troops were made before the uniform switch and hence don't look like the modern Canadian troops. They would fit perfectly in missions set in the 1990's but would look off in modern situations; especially since there's no desert units, back then Canada only had woodland uniforms, so if I wanted to potray Canada's forces in a modern desert conflict, I'd have to use woodland units. Seems a little out of place, doesn't it? ;)

Also, after using LLW C7s and C8s, it would annoy me to no end having to go back to the Northstar C7s due to the fact that- lets face it- compared to any modern weapon pack they suck. They were great for thier time, but they are really outdated.  :-\

Oh and another Pic found: here is the new desert uniforms

woodland uniforms only good for the 90's? when we sent soldiers into Afghanistan in 2001, we only had woodland uniforms. Canada's army only aquired thier new CADPAT (Canadian Disruptive Pattern) digital camo and started using them across the entire Armed Forces in 2000-2001. the ONS units are CADPAT, so I don't know what you're talking about. Before CADPAT, the Canadian military used OD green tunics and pants.

as a Canadian who believes in our military, although i know you were joking, i find it insulting. the CAF, although not large or boasting the brand-new super expensive equipment like armies such as the US, it is regarded to have soldiers with much better training.

ha-ha. we do have an army, and it's quite good.
