Aircraft takeoffs question
« on: 08 Nov 2005, 23:52:42 »
Could someone guide me in the appropriate waypoints needed to make an aircraft takeoff?

No waypoints needed.

Just place your aircraft on the taxiway facing south and it will taxi to the end of the runway and take off.

Yes just place them somewhere on the airport and give them the waypoint where they should fly to. Even the taxing way before should be automated, try it on Malden.
Important is, that it's only possible for one airstrip per island. The one that supports autopilot landings.

IIRC a getout WP on the taxiway will do it but I'm not sure. You could also do
Code: [Select]
myPlane action ["LANDINGAUTOPILOT"] or something like taht. Plank would know, he wrote a tute on it.  ;D

Plane's name Land "Land"

Example:

MyJet Land "Land"

The action command doesn't seem to work properly or only on occasion.

myplane action ["land"]

The aircraft makes its approach and lines up correctly, but then turns away and does it all over again.....ad nauseum.
Although sometimes it actually works.....strange

Go with The Architects' suggestion:

myplane land "land"

That hopefully works better.

I've been able to get a plane to land simply by placing a "GetOut" waypoint at the air base I want it to land at.  However, if I place a plane on a taxiway instead of the runway the plane will attempt to taxi all the way to the first waypoint (or so it seems).  Heaven forbid there are any trees or other obstacles in the way as  the loon seems perfectly happy to taxi right into them and destroy his ride.  Maybe I need to increase the loon's skill level?
