External Script Removal/Switch/Editing IN GAME
« on: 13 Jul 2005, 22:12:36 »
I have a treat for everyone, it'll be done by the time I wake up, lets hope that SKITSOphrenia kicks in. Using java i am able to halt ofp from opening a certain file, whithin this amount of time you can edit the file, and change the script without the problem of it saying that it is in-use. This would allow for dynamic changing of scripts during game play. This would be usefull for script editing and such, and can easily be used for missions and suc. The program can edit the file for you changing the script during gameplay . The possibilities are quite endless. I'll get it done soon.

Thanks,

You should check out this thread, it might give you some ideas:

About halfway thru, both Kegetys and Vectorboson had made tools that would do something along those lines. Kegetys released his as Fwatch, but I don't think Vectorboson's has been released yet.

I would highly recommend Fwatch. It is very cool. I just wish that he had made a more 'official' release, but it is still high enough quality that I am starting to make missions compatable with it. It also suffers from the serious flaw of not being compatible on Linux servers, which means it isn't very good for MP. Vectorboson's is supposed to work on Linux, but as I said, I don't think it is out yet.
