Drop effects library ?
« on: 06 Feb 2005, 11:27:49 »
Hello All

Here's a query / suggestion for the community.  Is there a drop effect library and if not, would it be worth while creating one for use by the community ?

What I'm thinking of is something like the playmove/switchmove and action libraries but much more advanced - a library of script snippets for any type of drop effect that a scripter might need.  You know - small puffs, big explosions, dust shocks, vertical fires, seeping gas leaks, big blazing oil fires etc - basically any type of drop effect that you might want to put in to a script somewhere.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists ?  If not, would anyone be willing to help set one up ?  I do quite a bit of scripting myself but I took one look at the 25 variable drop particle monstrosity and said to myself - "There ain't no way the kids are ever going to give me the unbroken 6 hours free that I would need to understand that !".

This could be a VERY useful utility for the comnity as a whole (said the man looking for some decent big explosions, burning vehicles and smoking aircraft effects . . .)

Cheers all !

Well, there is a utility that lets you play with drop command settings on this page.  It's called dialog drop.  On the same page there is a drop tutorial.

A library of drop effects would be useful.

I think this would be a pretty good idea... I'd actually really like to see this done.
I am actually flying into a star... this is incredible!
