Aircraft Radio Chatter
« on: 14 Nov 2004, 03:39:11 »
I'm just looking for some sounds of radio chatter. Not the Civvie rubbish but some good FAC and other aircraft radio chatter for use in a mission.

Any one know some sites for sound effects like this?

I don't.  :-\ You could make your own though. All you'd need would be a cheap microphone (costing £5-10) and an audio editing program (I'd reccomend Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

All you need to do is record sound bites then insert them at appropriate points and add static varying volumes of static. Or you and a mate could read a script in one continuous recording session and then superimpose static, distrotions and sound effects onto that.

That's unless, of course, anyone else knows where you can get some radio chatter from.  ;)

If you know any movies that have such chatter in them, you could open up the movie and extract the appropriate sound from it using goldwave or another sound editing program.

Also, I know I've seen some recordings of actual flight mission chatter during Vietnam, on some different vietnam websites. Might be worth looking into.
