Gun Fire hear by AI
« on: 24 Oct 2004, 16:47:26 »
Hello,

When someone fire near AI (and even if is not in ligne of sigth of this AI) the AI take their gun in their hands (if they are with gun on shoulder) and go prone. So i suppose they have a sort of gun fire hear. But i'm not able to detect this. If someone know how detect when AI "hear" a gun shot he will be a very helpfull for me.

   Thx in advance

Actually, the "detected by east/west" triggers will go off once someone on that side has fired a loud enough weapon, or fired a weapon enough times. Not sure if this directly relates to when the AI will pull their weapon off their shoulder though.

Another way is to check if the AI group is in "combat" mode. AI groups will always automatically switch to combat mode when they detect the enemy, unless they are in "careless" or "stealth" mode.

Keycat's Grouplink script has that function.
AI react on gunfire (depending on the loudness of the weapon), an alerted enemygroup will even move in the direction from where the gunfire comes.
