How to use Intro?
« on: 19 Sep 2004, 18:42:14 »
I have made a mission, needs an intro. When in editor I choose Intro (Intro, Outro win, Outro lose, Mission - can be chosen there) there is an empty map then. What is the way to make that intro work and after that go to Mission itself?

As I see there are plenty of howto's about cameras, but nothing about that Intro thingy.

As far as i know they just play automatically once you have clicked to play the mission.

I just make the outro and it plays automatically, unless i have forgotten sumthing obvious.

I dont understand how to make the Intro stop, so my mission can begin. I just have a guy standing there and nothing happens. Do it also need some kind of trigger with End1, End2 or something?

You make the Intro stop the same way you make the mission end, with an End#1 trigger  :)

It plays automaticly, head over to the ed depot, read about the cameras.

Ok this is wot i do:

I get a trigger, type - end1 and in the condition field i put EndIntro( lemme check that not sure if thats 100% correct, im forgetfull).

Now in ur camera script at the very end, after u have destroyed the camera u put - EndIntro= true.

So the end will look like:

_camera cameraeffect ["terminate", "back"]
camdestroy _camera
EndIntro = true
exit

That should end it and will proceed to the briefing.

Think of the Intro and Outros as little missions in their own right.   The difference is that you cannot play them, you can only watch.

There is no real difference between making a cutscene in the Mission and making a cutscene which takes up the whole of the Intro.

The Tutorial Mission in the Editors Depot has a very simple Intro you can use as a template.

Ok then, thanks. One little question: is it possible to see the whole mission with the intro and outro from the editor, or do I need to eksport it and then see from singleplayer game, not the editor?

I know about the "SHIFT" start, so I get the briefing before my mission, but it looks like it isn't possible to see the whole package from editor.

You can obviously view the Intro and Outros in the Editor, but no, the various parts do not connect.   If you want to see the joins, you must either export the file or put your mission folder in the Missions directory.
