Invisible men
« on: 02 Oct 2003, 21:44:07 »
no not a sci fi addon but units who act like men (i.e have the same waypoints) but cannot be seen. i thought of this because units "dowatch" men but they dont seem to do it with gamelogics so maybe an invisible man could be used in place also gamelogics only have AND and OR waypoints to which they move almost instantly, and a unit that cant be seen but has the charecteristics of a man would be good give em move waypoints and the like so units dowatch them

The AEF-Campaign already made some invisible Targets. Perhaps those thingies are just what you want  :)

nah i got them already what i meant was
a man (on civil side so people dont actually shoot at him but can dowatch him) then if it had the same choices of way[points as a regular man (move.....cycle etc) then you could get a M2 machine gun to dowatch it and depending how you set up the invisible units waypoint maybe a search attern with the M2 lights can be formed

so basically a man that you canuse LIKE a game logic but has the behaviour of a MAN

You can moveincargo game logics..... Maybe you should try to moveindriver a game logic in the M2....

 You got it backwards Kyle

he wants the guy standing in the M2 machine gun to scan the horizon with the  gun or spotlight.

 one way to do this is to have the guy in the M2 watch a guy walk back in forth infront of him..  using the dowatch command..

units will watch other units..  units will not watch gamelogics or triggers/markers , etc....

so what he's saying is that you texture a soldier model with transparent textures and have him walk back in forth so the gunner has something to watch .. but it would look better than having the gunner targeting his own guy and watching him walk back and forth ;)

sounds feasible...

go to the addons depot pending list... download the soldier model there and slap on some transparent textures in O2

:cheers:

dowatch also works on positions, not just units.

man dowatch [2000,-4000,0]   for example

You can use a script to slowly change the position the MG is watching.

doWatch position
Operand types:
    position: Array
Type of returned value:
    Nothing
Description:
    Order unit to watch given position (format Position) (silent).

Example:
    soldierOne doWatch getMarkerPos "MarkerMoveOne"

No I dont have it backwards I know what he meant but im just trying to tell him that game logics can moveincargo and it will make an empty space in the cargo seat so if a unit gets in while there is a game logic in the first cargo position he will end up in the second one... Now, using dowatch won't work. Is far as I remeber M2 lights do not rotate when the gun does, so you would have to use setdir.

i would make it myself but lol i aint got a clue how to use o2 or else id have had it done lol

It is impossible,
I have already created an invisible man using some textures on the original Western Soldier, but after the  1.75 patch OFP no longer allows completely invisible textures on some parts of the body.
There may be some way round this but as far as I can see you are out of luck :(

Invisible man, hmmmm i made one but it was only Invisible to ai.
All you have to do is take an addon and Insert this into the cfgVehicle Section under the units cfg

Camouflage=0;
audible=0;

That will Make that unit Invisible to ai.
i dont think it will work on Players (unless the Player is blind)
