Couple of questions
« on: 23 Jan 2004, 07:55:04 »
Hi me again,

1.How do you have it so that a unit (not the player) starts a mission standing at where he's supposed to "guard" with his rifle on his back and then when he see's the enemy to start shooting at him. (I tried the guard way point but it didnt work, they just stood there when the enemy walked by)

2.How would you set up a check-point, so a vehicle stops for a sec and then the guard waves him through.( or something similar to this).

3.I still cant figure out exactly how to start a mission with a guy sitting down.(could you tell me exactly wat to do please)

4.Is it possible to start units off lying down.(Sleeping on a bed)

                       -thanx

ok, create the unit u want sittin down
then make sure he is selected and choose waypoints
double click on your unit and the waypoint box should appear
choose the behaviour to 'safe' or 'careless'
     in the activation field type
     this switchmove "effectstandsitdown"
     Press Ok
     Thats it

to start units lying down type in their init field
     this setunitpos "up"

I recommend u download some tutorials and the command reference
     those 'll help u alot

1.   Use switch triggers to switch the loon from a move or hold waypoint setbehaviour "safe" to a s&d or guard waypoint with behaviour aware or combat.     The trigger is fired by east detected by west, or east present, or whatever you like.

If an enemy loon walked past and your loon did nothing about it, he either didn't see him or was set to behaviour careless.  It's nothing to do with the waypoint.

You can place a waypoint right on top of a unit in the Editor.   To edit the unit afterwards press the shift key.

2.   If you're talking about AI loons, say in a cutscene, it's easy - just set up waypoints and the odd line of code to make them do what you want.   Dynamic ones that work in a mission are more difficult.    There was a thread about this a few weeks ago, use the forum search function.
