Why?
« on: 07 Jan 2004, 18:38:34 »
I have just completed 2 missions (Making them) and for some reason when I host them it starts asking me for addons that I have not included in my mission. (When I try to launch them in MP). For example it is telling me I cannot continue as I do not have dkm_mod. I have never used this mod and I checked the sqm just to be sure. Can anyone help me, and is there a way to bypass these errors on the dedicted server as all it is is an error message. I am not in fact missing any files.

As well, does anyone know why Inquisitor's C4 works perfectly in SP but will not work at all in MP?

Cheers

Ah yes, the phantom addon error message.    There are various techniques for dealing with this, not always succesful.

Clean up your addons folder.   Use subfolders to keep things out of the way.

Clean the mission.sqm, remember the intro and outro sections.   Sounds like you have already done this.

Open up the Mission Editor and create a clean, new map on the relevant island.   Save it.  Go to the pesky mission, select everything and press Ctrl C to copy.    Ctrl V to paste into the clean map.    Use a reference point to make sure everything gets into the same place.

No promises.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I know I have a few grey hairs because of addon weirdness. Macguba helped me out tho  ;D .

I overlooked the addon requirments of the intro and outro.

Also, some addons have effects or objects that you might not associate with the addon.

For example:
(insert long boring story here)

I was using BAS MH47 while making a mission. I decided not to use it, but the mission kept on asking for it. I cleaned out the sqm over and over again--no help. I pasted my mission contenets onto a clean map--no help. I even reinstalled OFP --no help.  Finally, I started deleting each object type, one by one. First went all vehicles, then all men units ( except for a standard soldier for player). Then went the emptyobjects and I found it--it was "RED GLOW WITH SMOKE" . What in the world does a red glow have to do with anything  :hmm: ?!  I then came to realize that the MH47 comes with red, blue, green, and yellow glows. I just assumed it was part of OFP and never associated it with the MH47.

BTW the BAS MH47 rocks!

Hello,

sometimes it helps to delete the mission.pbo ("Not your mission folder !!"). Then open your mission in the editor. Play it under preview. And save it again (normal) and as pbo.
I do not have an idea if only the re-saving do the job.   ???

Greetings

the DKM problem is common... and only occurs if you have download one of their addons (not sure which one) which generally fucks things up like this... although in SP this error is harmless, but annoying  ;D
