Pictures "above" black outs
« on: 22 Oct 2003, 18:22:29 »
Hi m8s. I have a question. When you put a picture in your mission, the picture will "float over" the rest of the mission EXCEPT black outs and white outs. What I want is a black outs and then several pics over that black area, anyone see what I mean?

I don't know the answer but I do see what you mean.     Can you make two pictures show at once?   If so, could one of them be all black and in the background?
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

i was able to have whiteins and then a custom text using dialogs above this.  what are you using fot the blackins, etc.?  I think it makes a difference if you use titlecut and titletext (titlecut overrides everything i think so try titletext)

EDIT:

ooh wait, SEVERAL PICS... sorry

Hmmm... You could make a black background yes, but you can only show 1 pic at a time I think. :-\

EDIT: Mikeb, wow, you posted almost at the same time as me. Can titletext make blackin too? I didn't know that, I'll check that out.

EDIT2: Not at the same time... Although it would've been nice if I could... :-\ But it ain't nessessary.

I had a similar problem with a cuttext or titletext & a titlesrc.

http://www.ofpec.com/yabbse/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=13764

I 've a titlersc "M21" & "SVD" for a cutscene where the player looks through the scope of the sniper. I have a lot more camera-freedom because with switchcamera "internal" the AI is too unpredictable. With a overlay
I can simply follow my target with camsettarget instead of hoping for the goodwill of the AI sniper...

But when tried to simulate a muzzleflash with

cuttext ["","WHITE iN",0.001]

the Titlersc with my scope disappear...  :-\

Why don't u use something like photoshop/paintshop to create one picture out of all of them, u could just leave black space between them or make them overlap :)
Get those missions out there you morons!

OFP uses two 'channels' to place resources/text/fade ins/outs.

Title and Cut.

You can have two sets of text/pictures or whatever on the screen at the same time.

If you were to put:

titletext ["Text 1 here","PLAIN"]
~2
cuttext ["  Text 2 here","PLAIN"]

the two text lines will overwrite each other. However if you used titletext (or cuttext) for both of them, the second one would replace the first.

You can use similar things for resources (pictures). You can use the two channels to get two different pictures on the screen at the same time.

Take a look at the fade in/out command...

titlecut ["","BLACK IN",5]

Notice it sort of has elements of both?
The command Ref states that cut is the background channel, and title the foreground channel.

A fade in/out will override the cut channel (ie. I'll be removed from the screen), but not the title channel.
So if you ever want to put up a picture/text/resource on the screen during a fade in/out, just use titletext/rsc/obj ;)
