If you don't like that phonetic alphabet, there are plenty of other versions.     That one is the current NATO version.     For example, pre WW2 the British and American forces each had their own.    You might be able to hunt them down on the net.

The thing that really annoys me about the NATO one is that W is whiskey, which is the Irish way of spelling whisky.    And, what with me being a Scotsman ..... still, if I was Irish I'd probably be happy. ;D
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Thanks, a phonetic alphabet is basically what I wanted. What  I asked for origanally, was for the standard names of air, armor, infantrym etc. squads from the phonetic alphabet. Or at least the names OFP gave :). I've seen at least three dozen documentaries on war, but I never heard anyone utter a word about good squad names :'(.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I can still use the info though, :D.

I think Russian plane squads are named "Zveno" and then a number (ie Zveno 1, Zveno 2). That's from IL2 Sturmovik, anyway. In OFP I think it calls them Schuka. Oh well.

And to macguba, as a fellow Scot I agree! Typical Americans, cannae spell for toffee.

Let me try again. I want the names in phonetic alphabet to fit into suitable names for squadrons of every type. For example: Nevember and Kilo are good names for chopper squads or units. I want some names like these for tanks and infantry. Please.

With infantry, I found groups of soldiers are named like

Alpha Black :1 - group leader
Alpha Black :2 - 2nd in command
Alpha Black :3 - 3rd in command
and so on..

Then the next group created would be

Bravo Black :1 - group leader
Bravo Black :2 - 2nd in command
and so on..

Once all the Groups Alpha - Zulu have been used then the next Colour will be used.

Alpha Green :1
Alpha Green :2
and so on..

Although, you'd need to find out what colours they were yourself. I don't have a clue.  :P

Also if a unit isn't in a group, He's counted as his 'own group' so to speak.

For example, Alpha Black : 1 will be on his own then the next group to be created will have the group leader Bravo Black : 1. So in effect a lone unit is his own group leader.

Hope you find that helpful somehow. :) As for armoured units I'm sure they'd work in a pretty much similar fashion.
