Problems with select o.pbo forests

I'm trying to use the following objects in a map I am making:

O\tree\les_nw_jehl_mlaz.p3d
O\tree\les_nw_jehl_ctver_pruhozi.p3d
O\tree\les_nw_jehl_ctver.p3d


and when you load the map in-game and preview a mission, they all display fine
for a brief moment, then the leaf planes ONLY 'lose' their texture and display snowy.
The remainder is still textured, and all 3d objects model correctly, except for one
stray leaf plane on

O\tree\les_nw_jehl_mlaz.p3d

Has anyone else seen this?

BTW, these are not used on noe.wrp, even though they are in o.pbo. I believe my config
is right, as it is only affecting these objects. I used amfili's decrypt 1.91 to de-pbo.
