Multiplayer bug?
« on: 18 Aug 2003, 14:44:04 »
A friend and I stumbled onto how to make multiplayer missions last night.  But if you want to change them, he tells me you have to end out of the game and delete the map by hand then go back in and recreate(save it as multiplayer) again.  It will not overwrite the file in the multiplayer folder.

I'm on version GOTY.

Is this a bug?  Any idea if it will be fixed soon.  Sorry.  I'm a newbe.

And while I'm at it.  We played a multiplayer mission where if we died, we respawned into another solders body.  Anyone know how this is done?  I could not recreate it in the missions editor, so I thought I'd ask my new friends here at the forum. :)

Ah yes - the "exporting to MP missions that, under certain circumstances wont actually do it"-thingie. Extremely irritating. It's a "feature", i e BIS meant for it to work that way. Some sort of way to prevent cheating that I cannot quite understand the reasoning behind. Or I'm just too tired to think of it...

Check the "Multiplayer" forum. There's a sticky topic at the top called "Respawning". Do some reading there and "ye shall be enlightened".

Just for info:

you don't need to export your mission to multiplayer,
to be able to play it and maybe change it.

In multiplayer, where you can select the maps, there's also
a mission editor.

If you use this one, and you save your mission (not export
to sp or mp), you will find your mission in:

c:\program files\codemaster\operationflashpoint\users\your_name\mpmissions

You can start a multiplayer game aswell from such an open
source mission (not yet exported to sp/mp).

:note - in case you're using custom music, remember
that everytime you change anything on the map, the connected
clients will have to download the mission again.

:edit - ah yeah - almost forgot: could be, you posted into the
wrong forum (multiplayer editing would be the right one)  ;)

Oops.  Thanks.  I thought multiplayer forum was for playing and not scripting.  Sorry.

But thanks to everyone for the help. :)
