Regarding Speed issues on OFPEC.
« on: 16 Feb 2004, 11:47:55 »
Some of you have reported that the site is very slow and you do not get any bandwidth. This is not a server issue but rather a ISP issue. It seems our ISP have some routing issues from certain areas (not all) and you may experience bad results against the OFPEC server even though you get good results on other sites. This is unfortunately one of the quirks of the Internet, speed is never constant and unless our ISP remakes a major part of the swedish backbone, it will not get much better.

Even though the server is coping well with the actual workload its getting, we are constantly trimming and improving on the server. In a short while we will also set up the secondary database server (which will be 100% dedicated for only database issues) which should further speed up the transactions.

Diskwise we're not even close to filling up the drive. Last count we had some 45 gigs to spare.

I will keep you all posted on the progress of the server side.

*Sighs and puts ties another lump of cheese up in HuBBas running wheel, watching his little cheeks huff and puff as he runs after it, thus powering the entire Swedish grid system, and the OFPEC Server*

Good to see you again buddy!
