men won't attack chopper

ok... so i'm using martin's bell chopper (same as the one that lands on water, but the civie version)

this transports a CIA operative to plant an incendiary device on a downed US chopper to destroy intelligence, technology and ensignia linking it to the US.... but as the chopper prepares to take off it gets engine failure. Now what i would like is for the russian spetz natz to attack the chopper because the player is in it... but they don't - very annoying - when my man gets out they'll attack him - but what this means is that the player just sits in the chopper while the guy gets the engine restarted and then flies off... he needs a reason to get out and protect the chopper.

any ideas?

did u try dofire ?

i think dey dont fire on da choper cuz its armored 4 em ::)

i tried some times to get ai units to fire at choppers but they do only if you give them an AAlauncher, they won't use AKs, MGs and even RPGs. And I don't think the DoFire would work because of the same problem.
Maybe placing something in the chopper position, a GL maybe?

I think it all has to do with the chopper...  *edit* more specifically, the choppers' config.cpp  ;)  *edit*

I've had numerous times where I get shot at by a machine gunner that's just on combat status while I was flying a UH-60.   ;)

Hey mezzy!  ;)

Try & make a few AA-guns, like an AK47 or AKSU47 (which is AK47SU in OFP, but its a wrong name).
As far as I know, all ya need is to put:

AirLock =1;

in the cfgWeapons part (or wuz it the cfgAmmo ?)  ;D


That'll define the weapon as an aa-gun, if Im not all wrong. And yeah, the addon may derive from an armored bird - if "class helicopter" is the father, then try & add a few sub classes to the cpp, just to get it "down" to an unarmored helo, like the OH58 or alike.

yeah... im gonna have to play around a little and see what i can do... i may try and fiddel the chopper to be enemy to east... but not sure if it will be able to become resistance  :-\

I just had a peep at the coast guard bird, and if your civy chopper is made the same way, then the "TYPE" is =1, which is armored, so if you de-PBO it and change the type from 1 to either 0 (soft, like jeeps & men) or 2 ( = air) and make sure that the armor is below 25, then there should be no prob. about making M60 Mgunners firing at her.

PS. all of this is for private use, off course...

(obviously, if you're gonna upload the mission it may become problematic using a tweaked addon  ::) ).
