Ext.Txt "error"
« on: 28 May 2003, 01:35:02 »
Like many before me I am having the same problem. Have yet to see a detailed answer to this problem though. The one detialed answer listed in the respawn thread does not seem to work in Win98. Saving as "allfiles" still leaves the ext file as a text document. Changing it after the fact still leaves it the same. I am using notepad as needed.

What I ended up doing was using another ext file and editing it. While this works great I would like to know the solution none the less.

Thanks ahead of time.

I had this problem eons ago...lets see if I remember......

Open notepad from start menu, type stuff,
Select SAVE AS,
select "all Files *.*",
retype name as Description.ext
click save.

Doing it in that exact order, I believe.
I used to right click in a folder and make a txt file, then open it. I found that much more difficult to save than opening notepad from the start menu.
If it STILL doesn't work for you, a rarity,... then try using one of the many free scripting programs out there.
I use Crimson Editor, because I am so used to it, but there are MANY others.

Change your OS settings to show all file extensions, or not to 'hide known file types', or not to 'hide extension for known file types.'
I think its in folder view in windows 98.
