The Ãœber Tutorial is available
hereIts creator(s) deserve praise for putting it together and adding lots of pictures. However, I would like to point out a few shortcomings of this document. (Yes, I have read through it all.)
1. It's huge. At more than 10 MB it takes a while to download. An idea would be to split it into chapters for separate downloading.
2. It isn't indexed, and doesn't have a table of contents. This makes it time consuming to search for the particular solution you're looking for.
3. Many of OFP's more "interesting" features are explained with:
*no imformation regarding both functions due to lack of knowledge and importance!* They are by no means lacking in importance in my opinion.
4. Spelling! The author could at least have run it through a spell-checker.
5. Lengthy lists could have been put in separate documents. Here I refer to, for example, the list of objects in the game with an image of each (pp. 117-146) - a list that would be faster referenced in a document of its own. Another list that deserves a document of its own is the "OFP campaign voices list" (pp. 169-213).
6. Unfortunately, some topics give incomplete details (e.g. MP respawn pp. 36) or are duplicated, giving conflicting answers.
7. The last portion of the manual (pp. 216-302) is the contents of OFPEC's old EdDepot.
When the
new EdDepot is up-and-running, questions posted here will (in most cases) eventually find their way to it.
