Parts of the body, names related to movement
« on: 22 Jan 2003, 13:24:02 »
Would some of you GURU's out there please help. Basically i want to add some extra parts to one of the basic soldier models, these parts would be textured to make a ghillie suit of sorts, so i can have a model to go with the weapon i am making, what i want to know is what parts to regroup the additional parts to, ie if he moves, i want the suit to move with him, etc etc, like the original sniper model but with additional parts for that all over cammo look  ;D. The whole model will be reskinned with a new cammo. Is there a sniper model i can use or was this not part of the demo?

the snipers are basically the same as the soldiers exept
single planes squares,all sized differently,showing
transparent textures of grass,leaves etc.
very easy to create the sniper grass stuff.
to find the textures the sniper uses, open the sniper p3d
in a Hex editor, scroll to find the appropriate .paa files.
so you then can load a demo model, create a plane, texture it with the grass .paa
copy, paste the plane, reverse the face, and merge the two planes together
with,merge near-detect.

now to get your gillie suit.
choose the demo soldiers body and all the body and legs, boots etc
will be highlighted red...
unhighlight the parts not associated with the siut, like the boots etc.
and copy and paste the model and enlarge it very slightly.
then use the texture for the sniper veil and retexture the whole of the new copied body etc
and your soldier will have a transparent veil type gillie siut over the uniform and
it will be already defined to follow the rest of the body.
now edit how you wish.
