NATO standard radio transmissions?
« on: 28 Jul 2007, 12:16:32 »
I'm wondering if anybody who makes CASEVAC and ATRY and other scripts using the radio has ever thought about making it accourding to NATO standard radio format.  It kind of annoys me when Sarg Smuckatelly calls in air support from General RED HAWK TAIL KILLER and they talk like they're buddies back on the block drinking Bud Light.  Why not talk like "Distortion, this is Warhammer, standby for pos rep, over...12345678, over.  Distortion, this is Warhammer, adjust fire over.  Grid 12348454, over.  Troops in the open, over.  Roger Warhammer, stand by for message to observer, one round HE and adjust, five rounds HE VT fire for effect, over"  Or howabout a realistic 9 line CASEVAC or a CAS.  If somebody wants to do it, i got the information needed.  Just a thought...

I think that the CoC has a very similar format in their artillery modification.

The reason that many authors don't do such is that a) they don't know how it is done in RL and b) it takes more time to create 9 radio messages versus 1 or 2.

You might want to write up the format and make it into a tutorial to submit to the ED. I'm sure that there are some people out there who would like to have that information.

Take a look at Nick Mowbray's arty pakage in the Weapons/Scripts section of the Ed Depot(ED) on this page.
