An OFP question, perhaps not in correct forum.
« on: 28 May 2007, 23:45:12 »
Hey all, it's been about 2-3 years since I've done any major editing and/or playing of OFP. Man I missed it. I just have a quick question, is it possible to fly Choppers and planes using the mouse rather than a joystick? Been stuck on playing Battlefield 2 for so long while flying with a mouse, I kind of gotten used to it.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, but do not expect any high-fidelity air simulation

Great but how would I go about doing it? For some reason I am not able to bind mouse keys to flying controls and when I move the mouse around in game, I just move the target reticle rather than the chopper/plane itself.

Are you boarding as pilot or as gunner?

Yep I pressed it and I could fly with the mouse a little bit, didnt function very well. It sucks that I can't fly with WASD or the extra buttons I have on my mouse. Can't have everything though.

Thanks for the help.

I have a Logitech MX310 - it comes with 1 button on both sides of the mouse allowing me to have 4 different binds/buttons.

This is a gameplay question, not an editing question, and is therefore off-topic at OFPEC.  We like to stick to what we know, which is editing in all its forms.   Try the official forums at www.flashpoint1985.com.   ;)    If you can't find the right board, that's quite often a clue that your question is off-topic.

However, we're always very pleased to see old-timers return, so welcome back MythPro1.  :)  Yes it is possible to use a mouse and WASD - it's all I've ever used.  I could never get it to work with a joystick ...  ::)   The mouse does suck, but then the flight model sucks too so it all kinda balances out in the end.

In my experience the correct procedure with a Logitech mouse is to take it out into the garden, soak it in petrol, set fire to it and post the ashes to Kerguelen Island.   :D
