Ive been playing OFP and using the mission editor for about a year but i have never needed what im going to ask for before. Inspired by the FDF mod campaign i have been making missions with more people talking. Before my missions were mainly made for my brother to play (he loves it when i make these missions for him) and were mainly big battles or the all too common black op sneaks into base at night and blows up stuff missions.
Ok enough of that and lets get to what i want. Its simple. I just want to know how i make a trigger activate when the player is in the set area. I always name the player "player1" (without quotation marks).
I think what im doing is best for the situation. You see my mission is in WW2 on a remake of malden island. It starts off with the player (whos a finnish guy) sitting in his barracks listening to some (finnish, 40's) music on the radio. Couple of seconds later a man walks up to the door way, looks in and by a trigger activated after a certain amount of seconds he says "turn that off and get outside, the captain wants aword with you" (theres no lip action or sound, just text) That man then walks away. Player gets up and walks outside where theres a lot of eye candy. The captain is clearly visible, standing a few metres away with a pilot. I need what the captain says (the text) to appear when the player is next to the captain.
The best way for that to work as i see it is to have a player activated trigger next to the captain. Thats why i want to know what the script for that is. But is the way ive done the other stuff all right or is there better ways to do things?
