Plane question
« on: 22 Nov 2005, 17:01:53 »
Hi everyone am new here, been playing Ofp on and off for a few years.. Really love it as everyone else in here  :)

Anyway i have a question..
I dont get the airplanes to lift of from an airstrip.. I used the basic waypoint "Move" and "Search and Destroy" when i want it to attack an enemy base or stronghold.. Only thing that happens is that it rolls on the ground, not flying away.. Choppers no problem.. Why this with the airplane?
(Oh and i use the airstrip on one of the existing maps followd with the game. Think its Nogova or something)

Thanks for help and Cheers!!

You don't really need a waypoint to get a plane to take off from a runway.

Taking Malden Island as an example:

Place the aircraft on the taxiway facing south.
When you start the mission, the plane will automatically taxi to the end of the runway and take off.

The only waypoints you need to place are where you want the plane to go after it has taken off.

Another question popped up.. I have never tried scripting.. Is there any really really REALLY easy script to make planes to airstrikes? Or will they do that automaticly when they do "Search and Destroy" ?

Last question then i wont bother with "stupid" questions..

Where do i apply the scripting lines? On the trigger menu?

Thanks for the welcome!  ;)

When a triggers conditions have been satisfied and the trigger fires, any script snippet placed in the 'On Activation' field will get executed.........hopefully.   ;D

So lets say i play on west side.. And i want East side attack our base.. I can make a trigger say "East present" and when they cross the trigger via the waypoint i can put the script text on the trigger? So when East reaches the "trigger" it will launch an airstrike?

Sorry but am really new to all this.. Just recently figgerd out how to work with triggers..  :-\

Basically you have it.

Try it out, experiment, when you can't get something to work, ask in the forums.

Someone is bound to help, but, try to give examples of what you have tried, try to be precise.
