Question about triggers and WP

Hi everybody.

Do you know how to use triggers of type "guarded by East" (or West / resistance) ?
I've looked in the campagns missions, and found it used only one time, in the resistance campaign mission 8 "Hostages", but i don't have a clue about it usefulness ...

Same question about WP of "TALK" type.


Btw, i've seen something interesting in campaign mission. Do you know you can link a trigger to an unit with the group link (F2) ? It change the activation field from "east / west / logic/ etc ..." to "vehicle / whole group / leader / any unit". I ask because i've seen nothing about it in the faq / tutorials / forum, and discovered it today, though i play ofp since some years ><.

The thing about grouping a trigger to a unit and getting new activation options is well known.   If you search the forum you will find it mentioned many times, although the search function can be a little idiosyncratic.

There are waypoint and trigger tutorials in the Editors Depot which will shed some light on the the things you are asking.    For the "guarded by" trigger, the best way to understand it is to experiment with a little test missionette.    Make a guarded by trigger, and put a group with a Guard waypoint on the map and watch what happens.   Now try several triggers and groups with guard waypoints ... Now introduce some enemy .....

Well, I've look all (?) tutorials with 'trigger" in the title and found nothing about the "grouping trigger" and "guarded by" (except in a dutch tutorial ... and i'm french).
And the search function on forum ... too many answer, or not enough ^_^

Oh, i've forgot to ask, there are also marker grouped with unit in some mission, and again, i don't see the point ...

IIRC, when the unit is grouped to the markers, he will start the mission at the marker.  If he is grouped to several markers, he will randomly start at one of them.
