Plane to drop its load
« on: 09 Oct 2005, 14:03:01 »
hi
my ai plane will not drop its bombs on a certain area. how can i get it to just drop even one bomb on the target area? c
It does have to be a bomb from the plane because it is an addon so no explosion scripts!
cheers

there are some good airstrike scripts in the editors depot they wont actually make the plane drop its bombs but it appear like it has then deletes the ammo wich it fake used

how about the fire command then grab the bomb with the nearest object command then if needed you can perform some set velocity loops to get it to go down and hit where you want it to
im not sure how you would do this but it would be possible that way

Here's my attempt at punctuating it.     For obvious reasons I'm not sure if this is what he meant.... I haven't changed any words.

How about the fire command, then?   Grab the bomb with the nearestObject command then, if needed, you can perform some setVelocity loops to get it to go down and hit where you want it to.   I'm not sure how you would do this, but it would be possible that way.

An alternative, although the meaning is not substantially altered.   However this version involves starting not one but two sentences with 'Then', which is worse than farting in a lift.

How about the fire command?    Then grab the bomb with the nearestObject command.  Then - if needed - you can perform some setVelocity loops to get it to go down and hit where you want it to.   I'm not sure how you would do this - but it would be possible that way.

well name the plane in my example its called plane1

plane1 fire "name_of_weapon"

in a trigger script where ever you need it, try it and see what happes im not sure never tried with LGB's so im not sure it may follow the plane like a rocket or it may fall have a go and tell us what happens then

if it acts like a rocket some set velocitys will be in order wich ill do for you if it does fire like a rocket

Or, you might try setting up a laser designator target on where you want the bomb to hit, and the A.I. should bomb the place on his own...

(Question though... can you prevent a trigger created "lasertargetW" from disappearing after only a few seconds?...)

High explosives are essential.
