The FPS file
« on: 01 Sep 2005, 09:30:31 »
I was wondering if anyone can tell me about, or point me in the direction of a good explanation of, the FPS file. I've seen the name crop up quite a few times now, mostly in relation to how sqs files and variables are stored (looking at you Mikero :)), and also in relation to game editing.

So basically my questions are,

1.) How is data stored in the file? (Does anyone know?)
2.) What data is stored (is it all info relating to the current game?)
3.) Is it possible to write this file during the game? (It will, of course, be possible to read from it)

Any answers would be cool ;)

I'm onto it because I want to chase down that large savegame bug. I haven't inspected it closely enough to say anything sensible yet. Mind you, that's never stopped me in the past :)

The only useful reference I have at moment is @UNN's use of binview to inspect it.

Just say no to bugz
