Removing the mouse
« on: 30 Jul 2005, 19:24:17 »
hi, i have made my own dialog it is a red boarder that gets lighter as you go in so it acts as a  screen cover basically, the problem i have is that in the cutscene im using it in, the mouse still shows in the middle of it and it is messing up the whole of the cutscene, what is the command to remove the mouse temporarily until the cutscene has finished?

99% sure, I have the same problem when I use the scrolltext script.
BIS never thought OFPfans were so inventive with dialogs.
They must have been thinkin' ... what's a dialog without a mousepointer?

Try using a resource instead of a dialog.

A resource will cover the mouse, though will not be clickable (I'm assuming you don't want it to be if you're getting rid of the mouse though) ;)

well i learnt how to do resources, this is still a problem though as they work slightly differently from dialogs, even though there is no mouse pointer which is good, you cant define how long you want them with open and close commands which is annoying as you define there length in the descriptionif you put in a black out, it atomaticly closes the resource as its just about to start blacking out which looks nasty and like it has been poorly done.

There are two different "layers" that resources can be displayed on. Which layer is used is determined via the two resource commands: cutrsc and titlersc. The cuttext and titletext commands also use these same layers. If you, for example, call a resource via "cutrsc", then try to do a fade out via "cuttext", the fade out will override the resource like you are seeing. If you were to use "titletext" instead, it should make the fade on the other "layer", so the resource should be left up.

This also gives you a way to control when the resource is removed from the screen, despite whatever you enter in the description.ext. Just make an empty text appear on the screen, and it will remove the resource on that layer.
