LAW automatic fire bug
« on: 29 Jun 2005, 23:32:21 »
I'm playing Dynamic Campaign 1.5, a Resistance-style campaign where ammo & weapons carry over to the next mission.  Suddenly my LAW launcher has about 12 rounds in a "clip"  :o  and it's an automatic (no reload between shots in the same magazine). So I can fire the lot in about 4 seconds, then get to reload.

I'm guessing this is a bug, like the "undefined" behaviour on addMagazine with too many mags.  Something to do with the carry-over of weapons from one mission to the next.  Anyone got any firmer ideas?  It might be a cool trick to use in a mission some time...   ;)  "For today's mission you'll have the new prototype infantry multi-launcher.  Please look after it"

just downloaded it to see if i could replicate the error, but have given up on it - not my cup of tea. all i can suggest is that it's maybe not a law, rather one of the chopper rockets, as those fire quite a few before reload.

i remember having the same error during the original resistance campaign, i could fire unlimited laws at fully auto. i blamed it on a save game bug

@Stoned soldier: That sounds right.  At the end of one mission I was carrying a rifle & LAW with 3 rockets; at the start of the next one the LAW was on auto-fire.  It's exactly like the LAW magazine had been changed from holding a single round to holding about 12.

I can provide a zipped savegame if anyone's interested.

If it's a savegame problem, then I guess it won't be repeatable.  Shame.  I was hoping it might be a known side-effect of the Resistance ammo-carry-over commands.
