Newbie First Question
« on: 17 Apr 2005, 23:09:03 »
Hi all,

Hope I'm not repeating another thread. My problem is this.

I have a single player mission where a sniper(the player) requests exfil. Now I can get the chopper to fly to him, and land. But as soon as I put a move waypoint on after the land waypoint, the chopper touches and goes. I can get it to wait if there are two people waiting to get on, but that isn't the point of the mission. How do I get the chopper to wait till the player has got on, and then fly back to base or where-ever?

I'm extremely new to this, (About 3 hrs into it!) so please be gentle and explain things nice and easy.

Cheers,

Gavin

There are some good tutorials Here: http://www.ofpec.com/editors/index.php

The Heli Transport (map click) script, by Skumball, is an excelent script if you want an AI controled chopper to take you anywhere on the map.

ok first for the chopper where you want him to land place a load waypoint

on the group that is wanting to board the chopper give them a getin waypoint near where the load waypoint is

then click on "syncronize"

draw a line between the load and the getin waypoint now they are syncronized and the chopper will land wait for the infantry to board then fly off

in the load waypoint activation feild write; this land "Getin";

that should help the proceedings a bit.

i also use this land "LAND"

The chopper will land  and i think the crew will disembark.

Correction , you can't use this in a waypoint, you have to name the chopper and use the name instead of this.

Very interesting.

Thanks,

I don't have a group, i only have the player, and I don't want to have a "Getin" waypoint pointing at the landing zone as I want the helicopter arriving to be triggered by a radio, and I can't trigger the waypoint by the same radio call (OR can I?)

I already have the helo landing, but it takes off immediately. I'll keep experimenting!

Every unit (including the player unit) is always in a group.    This is a fundamental concept in mission editing so get it clear in your head.    A single unit on its own is still in a group, it's just a group of one.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I think For this, If it's single mission?, I would use Helicopter Transport (map click) v1.0 by Skumball.  Just copy and paste what he has for ya to use in the mission folder and some code in the Misson Editor. I just used it for one of my homemade missions and it worked Great and it's mutli-click so you can go anywhere on the map before going back to Base. Try it!! It's easy to use and Works Great.  Run into a problem just come here and we can try to help.
By the way it's right here in the Editors Depot ;)
