Attaching a flare to an aircraft
« on: 16 Jan 2005, 14:00:36 »
This is the line:

Flare = "Flare" camcreate [(getpos _strikeplane select 0), (getpos _strikeplane select 1),8]

The plane is involved in a bombing mission and it should release a flare similuating an anti-IR missile countermeasure. What I obtained is only a "bang" sound like the one that you can ear when a flare fired from a GL touch the ground...
I've tried to change the "altitude" from where the flare start (e.g. 8/-8 and so on...), but the result is the same...
I've tried the flare script that I've found in the the OFPEC Editor Section, but the "problem" is that that flare aren't visilble, cause the plane fly 150mt+/- over the ground.
My final intention is only to create a "scenografic" effect as the mission take place during the a mid-spring dawn and the player is the one that must coordinates a ground attack to a enemy helded town....
Thanks in advance for any help.
Saluti!!!

Dunno if this will work but try this and see if this works

"Flare" camcreate GetPos strikeplane

That'll put the flare in the plane where ever it is (i think  :P)

Hope that helps in someway.

There is a countermeasure flare script in the Ed Depot.   It even has a "whoosh" sound.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

That's one option.  Or you could download the simple explosion script and simply chage the ordinance to "flare."

Just tried it before posting, as i said above. The script is fine, but you can't see the lights effect from the ground...
Now I'm going to try AirCav solution.....

Yup that works, but it doesnt look nearly as cool as using a proper drop effect!
Get those missions out there you morons!

I totally agree with you, but I can't figure out a better solution if i wanna to see some light effects at 150-200 mts from the plane with a setfog of 0.4.
Naturally, suggestions are always welcome.... ;)
