waypoint scripting
« on: 02 Jan 2005, 03:31:43 »

hello all

im wondering if it is possible to have a ...hmm truck full of men lets say, driving to somewhere, and if their behaviour goes to "comabt"

?(behaviour truck == "combat"P is it possible to cancell waypoint 0 (going to the next town down the road) and add a new waypoint (waypoint1) which is search and destroy in a certain area.

because i want to have a mission where you ambush a convoy, and when they are alerted to your presence they cancell where they are going and start to move up into the woods where you are located.

if they carried on going to waypoint 0 then the mission would be pretty shit

ThEoNeAnDoNlY,

Not necessary to delete the waypoint.  You can override it with a trigger.

Creat a trigger (activated however you want).

You can use whatever names you want, just for this example:
Name your truck (QRF)
Name your charactor (BOB)

In the On Activation field, put: QRF domove getpos BOB;

Whenever that trigger is activated, the truck will move directly to your position.

Goodluck,

You need switch triggers, which do EXACTLY what you want.    Read the tute in the Ed Depot.   Also general tutes on waypoints and switch triggers, for background.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

to paraphrase maccy ;) :
create a trigger, and in the 'type' (has stuff like none, guarded by west, guarded by east, etc.) select type switch. Put ur cond (behaviour truck) == "Combat" in the cond line.

Then make ur waypoint through the first route, and the second wp through the second.  Sync the trigger to the first WP and vwala (?).

of course, its hard to do if you have following WPs but they can be achieved the same way useing switches.
