linking fence segments?
« on: 09 Dec 2004, 20:41:12 »
I'm trying to make a border fence that runs the width of the island.
Is there a way to link segments together-or do I have to place each segment one by one?
The only thing I could find in the FAQ search was how to stack them up on top of each other-I want to lay a stretch-like 30 segments at a time.

There may be a script for it, but all I do is make two that are at the right places, copy/paste another two and place them right. Copy/paste the four to make 8 then 16 and on and on.

As for heights check ed depot, and use my method if no script is there. :P

Warning: may cause irratation, boredom, and aching fingers :-\

GRK is right.   If you want to make it look good you have to spend a bit of time getting the joins just right.

However...

I recommend you think carefully about what you are doing.    It is unlikely that, in reality (if there is such a thing) anybody would build a fence right across an island.     Is that really what you want or are you just being a bit lazy?    ::)

What about making the mission more fun by having certain [believable, predicatable and appropriate] consequences if the player chooses certain routes or goes to certain places?
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I have a feeling he means placing a fence in a .wrp file, so it would be embedded in the island.

With WrpEdit it is slow tedious work, but once you get up a rhythm time soon passes.   ::)

WrpTool or Visitor might have road/fence placing tools, I know Visitor has a road tool, but not sure about WrpTool.

If you are using the editor and not making a new map, you can use Igor Drukov's chain script available on this page.
