ARGH! Setting marker directions??
« on: 22 Nov 2004, 16:51:22 »
:o Is setting a marker's direction (via command during the game, not in the editor, of course) really impossible?? :o

I've been OFP editing for two years now and never needed this.  ;D

setDir should work for any object in the game, so i guess it also works for markers.
Get those missions out there you morons!

No, the setdir command does not seem to work with markers. I tried to test it and when i wrote

"marker1" setdir 90

there was an error. When I tried

marker1 setdir 90

it did not change marker1's direction. :(
setdir

Markers are weirdo. They smoke more weed than the EC. Most commands won't work on them because they aren't defined as a vehicle, but a whole new type of unit (open the mission.sqs file in notepad and see what I mean) .

Workaround is to place several markers in different angles in the editor, then setmarkerpos them when needed.

Yeah I know and I have come to the same sad conclusion that the only workaround is in fact to place several markers with different dirs and "light up" only the suitable one at a time.

--> To hell with the idea of having a "start" marker showing the direction a group leader is facing  :'(

We have setmarkercolor, setmarkerpos etc., why not setmarkerdir?!

Not possible unless you happen to have VBS I'm afraid...

Still, this means it'll probably be in OFP 2 ;)
