stupid map problem
« on: 15 Nov 2004, 10:44:23 »
I as wondering if this is a common problem, or if im just too stupid to work it out myself. I have Ofp 1985, and whenever i use the mission editor, in the resulting missions nothing that i've put in (units, vehicles etc) shows up on the map?
Cheers

hmmm   need more information about this.. what version of ofp you have ? and did you saved your map and then loaded it or did you view it with the "previeuw" button in the editor ?..

or  your just an idiot and didn't place your spawnpoint next to the vehicles, and you had a hell of a time finding the vehicles :P

I was definitely next to other units, i can walk around and see what ive built in the game, but not on the map whilst playing the game.
I loaded it up from the preview in the editor, does that make a difference?

its ofp cold war crisis, not sure on the version

No, it's supposed to work that way - units only show up on the map in-mission when they've been 'revealed' by one of your group.  That's why OFP is a lot more fun than chess.

If you need to show things on the map for the briefing/mission you have to use the 'Markers' but they aren't meant to mark individual unit positions.

Lol, dont worry, worked it out anyway
I didnt mean that it wouldnt show enemy units, it wouldnt even show the players unit or other units on your side, but it work when you load it up thru the game rather than the editor :) im a dumbass

I suspect this is a Cadet/Veteran problem.     The mission editor defaults to Veteran mode and there is no way to change it in the mission editor.   Go back to the Main Menu, pick Single Missions and then Cadet mode, then go back to the mission editor.

When designing your mission, remember that many people will play it in Veteran mode.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
