Waves

hello,
I was wondering if there was a way to script waves in the ocean. this would be great for storms and ship battles.
Is there a way to make them actually move ships and cause them to rise and fall and even sink.
Or maby a typhoon that could suddenly have a 20 foot wave come on to shore and sweep unsuspecting infantry and armor into the sea. If this is succesfull it might even start an opf surfing mod.
thanks/cheers

it would be easy to script boats bobbing in the ocean, just use getpos and setpos, but i doubt you can script waves, you would probably need an addon for that

AFAIK the ocean has no waves, just seems to move in and out on the coast. Boats when movin have a wave sensation, you know go up and down a bit. But I always found it curious that there were no waves, its like that part of the ocean there, the Doldrums. A flat, featureless piece of water.
A 20 ft. wave would need some serious particle effects I think.

It does have tides. One big wave you might be able to do with the drop command, regular wavy sea would be very cpu intensive.
