Overview:

A set of 7 scripts, a readme, and a sample mission that demonstrates three commands for a player group leader using the action menu.

They are:

Set Direction
Set Base of Fire
Reconstitute Squad

Designed for use by mission builders to add some helpful commands for players leading a squad.

Set Direction - previously posted here, just forces formation to re-orient on whatever direction the player is facing.

Set Base of Fire - with a single mouse click the player can order part of his squad to drop prone, stop, and watch whichever direction the player is facing.  The player can then advance with the rest of the squad, while the base of fire element provides covering fire.  Includes "Recover BoF" and "Define BoF".

Reconstitute Squad - becomes available when the player has lost units in his group.  Will rebuild the group with the surviving units, thus rebalancing the formation and filling in the gaps left by casualties.

The included readme has more detailed explanations, and the sample mission shows the scripts in action.

Hope they are of some use to somebody.  I've started using them extensively and really enjoy playing with them.  :)

Sounds great, but you should post this in the betascript board, m8

anyway, downloading now.... :)

Search or search or search before you ask.

If this is a beta, it should go on the scriting beta board.   If it's finished, it should go in the Editors Depot.

Either way it sounds good.

?

Or people can just read the message and download it if they want...right?  Just trying to be helpful and share some stuff.

It's great that you want to share stuff.      But OFPEC is a big place and to help people find things it's well organised.   The forums are the right place to ask questions, discuss ideas and turn untested scripts into useful working resources.    The Editors Depot is where the scripts are stored when they are finished.

There are nearly 300 there now:  all in once place, categorised and blessed with a half decent search function.    It's easy to find what you want and easy for OFPEC to keep track of and back up what's there.    If all these scripts were scattered throughout the forums it would much harder both to manage them and to use them.

There are other reasons for having the Editors Depot, most of which are obvious once you spend some time there.   Probably the most important is that all resources are tested by Ed Depot staff before being posted, so that when you download something you know that it does what it says on the tin.

Submission is easy and you can update your script later if you make improvements to it in the future.

This is the "full" version that has become my new standard for my missions (as of today!).

In addition to the usual commands I include that weren't in the version above, Squad Stuff 2 also allows the player to toggle the new actions visibility in the action menu.  If the player doesn't like them, or doesn't like the action menu "spammed", he can hide all the new commands.  The scripts maintain the state even when not visible.

Commands in this version:
  Heal Team
  Set Direction
  Base of Fire
  Reconstitute Squad
  Gear Bag/Backpack
  Show/Hide Command

I will look into the submission stuff, but in the meantime I hope someone downloads them and can put them to use.  I have been using all of it except the Show/Hide feature for some time in my missions.  Today I had some free time, so I got around to doing the Show/Hide stuff finally!  :)

The zip includes another demo mission, this time on Nogova, demonstrating the commands.  Thanks to "Blanco" and his post on getting the correct height, the backpack scripts work inside buildings now and on rooftops!  Thanks Blanco!

Enjoy!
:)

Updated the version in the Editors Depot to include a new command - "Hasty 360".

Clicking "Hasty 360" makes your group members form a circular perimeter around your pos, facing out, laying prone.  A handy defensive immediate action.

"Recover 360" makes them fall back into formation and clears out the doWatch/setUnitPos commands.
