a trick I use, especially for roads/fences....and works for buildings if they are all the same type.....
Make the building layout on desert island with just 2 buildings...
take the time to get them aligned exactly the way you want, unfortuneatly you gotta do this the hard way...
then look at the sqm file, and see what the posistions of the buildings are, 2 vectors should match and the 3rd will be different, roads for example, at least the long road pieces, are 25 apart....
then just create the rest of your buildings "close" to where you want....
then go back to the sqm and manually set the positions
advantages: for long strings of objects like roads and fences, this works very well
also works for "clusters" both n/s and e/w that need to be perfectly aligned
disadvantages: all the pieces need to be named, believe me, it solves a lot of probs if you do
never tried it with different objects in the same string, as stated elsewhere, everything has a different center
I have also made a blank map on desert, used the above technique to make several different road and fence sections stretching all across the island, then saved it as "roadwork"
now when I need a section of road or fence, I can go there and copy/paste just what I need!
