landing a chopper (ai) ?
« on: 11 Sep 2004, 14:28:19 »
im making a vietnam style mission. I have a slick with about 8 soldiers in it, i put them in cargo via "this moveincargo slick" in the int field.

I want the chopper to land at a waypoint, or even better, hover about a metre of the ground and then, after the troops disembark, i want the slick ot search and destroy over the mission area.

Now, im having trouble with the troops to disembark, they won`t! i dont want to eject them (they try to get baÂ'ck in the slick then, if they donÂ't die paracuting out)

Any ideas???

hello there muddy waters. What I suggest you do is give the helicopeter a "Transportunload" waypoint where you want the troops to disembark. If you put an invisibel H (in 'empty/objects) then it should land on that, AI choppers do a wobbly sometimes with out it. Now If you want the chopper to be above the ground make two 'Move' waypoints near to each other, in the first put "choppername flyinheight 2" and in the second "choppername flyinheight 1", then you'll want the chopper to not move for a bit, so pu in a trigger (f3) activated by west with a time delay (min4 max6 min 5) and sync (f5) this with the helis next waypoint (eg search and destroy), this way it will wait for the time to pass and then move on, And you'll want to give the troops an eject command, summat like GI action "eject". Not sure bout the syntax though.
Happy mission making!!

actually, just having a TRANSPORT UNLOAD waypoint worked, and the trigger with a time dealy made it look even better, though the hover-eject thing you mentioned didnt work, it looks just as good with them stepping off, thanks anyway gov!
