ADDON REQUESTS - Getting out of control?

Hello everyone, I am making hte post not to be rude but i have just noticed something when looking at all the threads in here.  90% of all the addons requested are already made...  "I want an M4! Make it for me!" <---Typical example.  Now any OFP player could tell you, that there are over a hundred different types of M4A1's out there.

All Im asking that people be a bit more aware of what they are asking.  Its getting a bit out of control (in my opinion).  I dont mean to step on anyones feet, and I dont want to start a flam war here, Im just saying Id like to see some better requests then "I want a Hummer with mounted guns!"  Apolgiez if anyone takes offence to this.

One thing, don't go crazy on ppl who are new here who wouldn't know where the 100 types of M4s are. They are new and don't have an idea sometimes about the sprawling community bristling with addons, missions, scripts, tuts, and various OFP related material.

*Looks at tabs at OFPEC site  "Missions...Addons...."  looks at links........... Yet they still post dumb questions.  Sorry its just a pet pieve when people ask stupid things.

Trust me, we've been there, done that and even got the t-shirt.

Unfortunately, this has always happened, and nothing can really be done to combat it short of what we've tried in the past or currently do.
Such is the nature of "request" forums.
It can be frustrating, but it certainly hasn't reached crisis point, nor has it decreased our visitor numbers due to frustration.

All we can really do is grin and bear it. People are people. If you try to stop them being people, things either get very ugly or very lonely...

I think lookin for addons are harder since there are hundreds of sites hosting addons.

Lookin for editin Qs is another story. Here we are the ultimate Editing Center and people neither use ed depot, FAQ or search (at least some of the time) . How do I make my guy put hands behind his head for the 12371th time?

EDIT: And then they get mad cause no-ones replied after an hour lol.

Let me say one thing: instead of criticize who asks for an M4, try to understand what he wants!
I'm looking for an M4, for example, but I don't like the ones available. So, if I ask for an other M4, there is probably an explaination for my request. So, don't just shout against this ones who ask for weapons which might already exist.
They might also don't know about their existance!

I have an idea, so moderators please listen:
why not make a list of all topics, but in a sort of a-z directory?
eg: I want an .. M4.. ok? so I check the letter M on the list, see all available posts and AFTER if I'm unsatisfied I post a new thread..
I know its maybe not so easy to do, but it would restrict the problem in a way.. what do you think guys?

I ( ;D ) agree with Venturi:
that's a good idea, especially for the ones who are looking for something but don't want to ask it for, or simply have no time for it.
I'm still looking for an M4 carbine ( :-\ ), and it would be a lot easier search for every kind of M4 available, instead of asking anr receiving angry answers for a common topic

well, you called me by my surname as my friends here in Italy do.. cool!
anyway, its up to the mods to really decide how to act, therefore we should stop arguing over this topic, instead why not make some kinda poll and let the masses decide.. might work no?
