Benchmark is in some way associated with viewdistance.    Crudely, perhaps you could say that two different comps playing the same mission would give similar performance if the viewdistance was set to the benchmark in each case.   However, as you can get different benchmarks just by pressing "autodetect" repeatedly .....

Changing viewdistance on an empty island can have a marked difference in performance.     Drawing all these distant objects (and indeed the active part of the game just "knowing" they are there) makes a big difference.     I have no idea which bits of your computer handle that, but you would expect that the ones that are are involved in that are also involved in calculating benchmark.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Well I took a screen shot but I cannot display it the way you do - so much to learn!!

My settings are the same as your's except my:
Resolution = 1024 x 768 x32
Gamma = 1.5
Visual Quality = 6..18
Visibility = 1435

Gamma should have no effect, all the others except Visibility are lower settings than your's.

I also have the hyperthread whatever P4 processor

I am not sure where this is now leading

Wow I thought everyone had kick ass settings way above mine and view distances over 2000.....

Guess I'm wrong and much happier. Although I need more memory or something, OFP lags sometimes with other programs on at the same time.... :P

Settings:
Same as armstrong's except
resolution:1024x768x32
quality: 6..18
viewdistance:1266

...

Thob, what is your terrain detail? That's the ultimate OFP source of lag.
