WWII aircraft
« on: 01 Mar 2004, 03:06:46 »
Well, I won't bore you with a list of what's already out there, but here are some planes we need (and have not been released yet, if they're being worked on somewhere):

Americans:  P-40 Warhawk, P-47 Thunderbolt, P-38 Lightning, F4 Wildcat, F6 Hellcat, TBF Avenger (with some new torps based on the CoC ones), SBD Dauntless

UK:  Hawker Hurricane, Mosquito

USSR:  P-39 (dunno many Soviet planes from this era)

Germany: Me-262, Me-263, Fw-190, Bf-110

Japan:  ehhhh...just finish that Zero (you know who you are) and we'll be all set : )

Whaddya think?

USSR used P-39 Airacobras and their big brothers Kingcobras, which they received from USA. And Dauntless is being made currently and there is a beta version out. The WWIIec's Pasific Front (or something) is the place where you can download it.

Get the Mosquito made!
That would kick ass.

What about a FW190, a Zerstorer, ME163, ME262, Mistletoe, BF110 Nachtjager and day.

Corsair, Fairy Battle, Blenheim, Typhoon, Tempest.

I could go on.

@bigdog:  P-39 was American, but the pilots didn't like it...I believe the song went something like this:

"Don't give me a P-39
With an engine that's mounted behind.
It will tumble and roll
And dig a big hole,
God, don't give me a P-39"

So naturally we sent them all to Russia :P

As for Japanese planes, I'm not really up to snuff on their other aircraft, unfortunately - I know they had others though ;D

@Tuulos:  If you're thinking of the plane I think you're thinking of (hah!), then that's an SB2C Helldiver.

@architect:  F4U Corsair exists already and I mentioned the FW-190 and the two ME's ;)

But anyway, you gents get the idea - more WWII planes!

well i've heard rumours and seen some pics of the following planes Hawker Hurricane,  Mosquito (apparently some FDH? has 1), Me-262, Bf-110
P-38 Lightning, F4 Wildcat        (none of these are by me)

but like most addons i c its just hype and no release  ??? but who knows :-\

and ummmm........

can't you just use the 109 instead of a Fw-190  ;)

this is a pic of an awsome script by grendel which im still testing and eventually hope to implement (with permission) into the c47

The P-39 Airacobra was also used in South East Asia, a short while, if I remember correctly.

The large part of Airacobras went to the USSR, where the nosemounted cannon ripped large holes in Luftwaffe :)

At least they do it to me in IL2 Sturmovik....

To all of you:
The USSR took everything they could in WWII, they flew even Spitfires or shot american Colt M1911s.
And as far as I know there is a Bf110 in Progress already, so the only really important german WWII plane is the Focke-Wulf FW 90, which was used in the last stages of the Battle of Britain, and mainly for Intercepting those B-17s, "Marauders", "Liberators" and so on.....uhm, every bomber.
And it was the counterpart to the Spitfire Mk. X (or was it Mk. IX?), so it would be very stupid to keep he Messerschmitt Bf-109 as the only german fighter plane in OFP...

well as i doubt that ofp will ever have any of these planes / bomber ( B-17s, "Marauders", "Liberators"  ) then there won't be a problem using the 109  ;)
