How do you make a vehicle spin over?
« on: 26 Feb 2004, 14:06:58 »
I've been trying to work out how to do this for a while now with no success. I want to make a Jeep spin over to the left. I want it to spin over once and land back on it's wheels. This is going to be done in conjunction with the setVelocity command, so the Jeep will be in the air when it is spinning. Basically, think of the scene in "James Bond: The World Is Not Enough" when 007 jumps his boat over another boat in the beginning and it spins over in the air and lands back down the right way up. That's the effect I want to get, but with a Jeep. Thanks in advance.

It can be done, but not reliably and it's quite hard.     Search the forum, this has come up before.    You have to camcreate just the right explosion in just the right place, and combine it with just the right setVelocity command.   Or something.   setVelocity alone will not do it.

If it's not really important it may not be worth the trouble.

I on't think it can be done easily at all by script cause their are no bank and pitch commands in OFP althouigh it would have been nice...

An explosion under the jeep? Errr might work but I could imagine all kids of rolls and the guy would probably die. And just some little tidbit of info. AI do not like being upside down, they usually eject if they are upside down for too long. It happens to me in tanks sometimes even though the tank may be 100 %, of course the AI have good reasons for ejecting....... ::)

Someone wrote a script a long time ago that reliably make a vehicle roll over by spawning a similar vehicle underneath it, and slightly off centre.  It worked quite well if I remember.  Search the forums back as far as they'll go to find it.

Works to certain extent... Does not always flip the car over (something like 8-9 times out of 10) and it takes something like 5+ seconds for the process to complete so it can not be used 'in front of the camera'...

Here's the thread:

There's a little misunderstanding in the thread about BAS using a script to have the turned over ural at the Tonal campaign... They have a model for that, not a script...
